Brad Bergesen gets his 5th win.

Speaking of Bergesen, he again proved to be the stopper of the staff. After losing 3 in a row in Florida we needed a strong effort out of our starting pitcher, and we got it. Bergesen went 6 innings allowing 4 hits, 2 walks, and 1 run. He struck out 5 batters. By the time he left the game the Orioles had a 10 run lead. Danys Baez pitched a scoreless 7th, Matt Albers the 8th, and George Sherrill the 9th. Theres nothing like an anemic offense to get the pitching staff back on track.

The offense really came alive. Every starter reached base at least once. Brian Roberts walked. Adam Jones was a homerun away from the cycle. Nick Markakis improved to 7-9 in his last 2 games. Aubrey Huff had 2 hits and 3 RBI. Nolan Riemold had a pair of singles and a double. Luke Scott had a couple of hits. Melvin Mora had 4 RBI on 2 hits, including a double. Matt Wieters worked 2 walks. And even Robert Andino had a single. It was a fun night at the yard. The offense proved what its capable of. Wieters just missed crushing a homerun, but it was called foul.
Player of the game: Adam Jones (3-5, 2 R, RBI, double (17), triple (2) (.307 AVG))
The series is there for the taking tomorrow night with Jeremy Guthrie (5-7, 5.09) pitching for the O’s. Shairon Martis (5-2, 5.13) goes for the Nationals.
