The Orioles designated RHP Dennis Sarfate for assignment, clearing room on the 40 man roster for 3B Miguel Tejada.

Not much of a loss here. I might’ve gotten rid of RHP Armando Gabino instead, but Sarfate wasn’t going to make the team out of spring training. He was hurt in 2009 and pitched to a 5.09 ERA over 23 innings, striking out 20 and walking 14. His velocity had lowered substantially when he returned from the DL. Thats not good when your fastball doesn’t have much movement. He might get claimed, but he should at least end up in AAA for some team.
